Jim, you have to view these little hiccups in life as a gain, and not a loss. Whether it's quitting smoking, or drinking, or drugs or just quitting a bad life style in order to start a new life...in the long run, it's always worth it. Still plenty of things to experience, places to visit, family to enjoy, enjoying your passions...I speak from experience. Several years ago I was diagnosed with diabetes, and realized some lifestyle changes were in order. To me it was simple..keep eating all the ice cream and pie, or lose a foot..the decision was easy! Plus the diet, I added some ongoing exercise to my new chapter. And to all you folks out there with type II diabetes, don't think that just because you take your medicine you can keep eating and doing the things you did before. It's a dedication and commitment to a complete lifestyle change, or pay the consequences.

Great that you found this out now, Jim.

Getting in shape is much harder than staying in shape. So, when you start getting sore muscles - maybe really sore muscles - just know that this soreness will eventually fade away, your body will adjust, and you might just surprise yourself with how quickly you start to enjoy your new routine.

And, if you ever change your mind about ballet, will you please take photos and post them in this thread?

Thank you, everyone for the kind words of encouragement and support. It took me forty years to get to this point, but I do not believe it will take forty to get back. I have set a goal of one year from today to reach my goal weight and I am sure that I will attain it.

Sorry there will be no photographic evidence of me doing any dancing, much less ballet... I suffer from terminal white guy syndrome and as such any rhythmic action is severely discouraged by friends and family.

Jim
