Default photography that is altered

Hi,
I am new to this and I have a question. If I shoot a photo and then change it into something other then what I saw through the camera doesn't that make it digital art?

In my opinion a photograph that has been changed by adding an image from another photograph or altered to make a new image all together, isn't photography.

there is a difference between altering a photo and combining two or more photos together into one.
changing colors, exposures, and even cosmetic PP is still within the definition of photography IMO.. cutting people or objects and pasting them into a whole new photo - that's another thing..

A collage of photographs isn't photography? Or a triptych image? They are instead digital art?
Ok.
Why is that distinction important to you? So you can point to something and say" That's not photography! That's art!"

I used to have this "purist" atitude about SOOC. Then I realized my images sucked. Now they suck and I know why.

Talking about it isn't photography either.

I think you have to get far from photography to get to digital art, for example cg rendering and drawing via tablet as a main ingredient.

Photography has long included collage and montage. It's also included photo manipulations and transfers.

I think the difference is some fuzzy line when there is more non photographic components to photographic source

Photography is taking a photo. This is required in the activities you described. So it's photography, even if that's only one step in the process.

Is me using Lightroom to develop raw files photography? I'd say so, but it's only one facet.
