Given the stitching errors, my feeling is that it was taken by a standard high end camera and 100 or 200 or so photographs taken with a long zoom with a robotic camera mount. To get that wide an angle on a single sensor would result in serious amounts of distortion and very poor picture quality at full zoom due to lens imperfections.

That basically means that if you have a lot of patience and a long zoom, you too can create your own gigapixel photo.

Those aren't the only people who have had their features distorted. Up behind the two mentioned above are 2 more people with their heads nearly or completely removed from their bodies. Plus there's a woman with her face oddly stretched sideways. Weird stuff, but interesting how far in you can zoom on the people.

On the right hand side, there's someone with a white zoom lens. Just belo that is a vertical pole. About half way down that, just to the left, there's a bright yellow sign, stipulating "section" something. And a man in a red jacket.. Just behind him to the right someone appears to have died on someone elses shoulder.
