For now, I go alone. I don't have much time as it is to even do that. I am new to this and relish the thought of having time to walk around a city for the day and snap photos.
I guess because I haven't done alot of it, being with a group sounds intreguing and I would like to try. I think I can learn alot from others who are willing to share. Even though I truly believe that no two people can take the same shots, I think on the technical side, it would only help me.

Wellington, New Zealand, sorry Is there a Flickr group for your area? Maybe they have a photowalking group (or maybe you can start one... photowalks are very easy to organize. More of a let's meet here and walk to here at this date and time sort of thing ).

I like to go alone but most of the time my boyfriend goes too. We are both into photography. I will take my camera and go out into the yard alone. I carry my point & shoot in my purse so I use that when I am alone during the day.

I used to joke that my justification for spending money on my camera was that it's cheaper than therapy, and I get more out of it. After nearly a year into photography, I've found there's some truth to that statement.
Almost word for word what I was going to say.

ditto. Another lone ranger here for the most part.

If I go in a group, there's either a bunch of embarrassing photos of me taking photos in some twister like bent over position, or else I just frustrate people by taking too long or just wanting to go "over there a bit."

I've never been able to go on trips with other photographers for photography's sake. Almost all of my photography time comes during family trips and events where I have at least my son with me. Being that he is only seven, I still have to keep a close eye on him. So, I rarely ever get to "be" a photographer and think about my shots for more than a minute or so.

I voted alone... only because I have never gone photographing in a group. I think it would be great if I could learn from a more experienced photographer... but currently... have never gone out with one.
I do know that taking another photographer with me would be a lot easier than having my husband with me - he can't see the big shadow that he casts across the middle of my shot! lol

So far, I've just been alone, or with my husband and stepdaughter. We'll drive around on country roads, looking for old farm houses to shoot. I joined a photography club this year, and group outings will be scheduled. We were supposed have one yesterday, but the weather was too nasty. Anyway, I'm looking forward to trying it; I think I'll get some ideas on looking at things from different perspectives. Overall, though, I think I'm still going to prefer going it alone.

Definitely alone, although in my high school days, I'd go out shooting with a friend all the time.
Times change though, and now I'm usually alone, or with my wife who likes to 'point out' things I should photograph (thats a whole other topic)...
