Smile Printed and Framed

Just wanted to share, I just got a nice framed print of one of my infrared shots.

I hardly ever actually print my photos out, which I really should start doing more often, but my sister wanted a print for her house (she's got a B&W fetish) so I ended up making one for each of us.

I also would like to find a printing shop that really knows what they're doing...I took it to Wolf Camera (which is really the only place around here I know to get large prints) and I brought a couple of different versions: one with sRGB, one Gray Gamma 2.2. I asked them which they preferred for doing a good black and white; they didn't really seem to know what I meant. I much prefer handling my own printing -- I need to buy a good photo printer. I also need to win the lottery.

Anyway, so it's a 12" x 18", framed in a 16" x 20" (closest size I could find to fit it).

You can see the original here.

Quite nice! Start looking for a Epson R-1800 I found mine for 200 dollars. It will print up to 13x44 if you are using roll stock and 13x19 sheet fed stock. Makes very very rich black and white prints. Nice to see a color photo of a B&W print...

You sure do move fast I think it was just last week you were waiting for the filter to arrive. I will have to wait until more money comes in so I can try this. Looks great framed.

That's a good looking print! I've had good luck with Mpix, ColorInc, and Adorama.

Ha Ha Ha! *whisper* * Seinfeld*

I just sent test prints to Mpix not too long ago. It was funny, cuz they have that thing that asks where you heard about them, and Scott Kelby is actually on the list. Which is where I heard of them from. lol I was a lil irritated an Ritz for the slim white edge on one side of some of my last prints. I know its a small thing, but it just kinda bugged the slight OCD in me. I've heard good things about whcc too.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll keep that in mind. I've had a lot of experience with Epson photo printers, and I like what I've seen so far.

Haha...yeah, I might be just a little obsessive. I got the filter in the mail, packed up my tripod and headed out to the park, class assignments be damned!

Thanks! I actually just got some prints back from Mpix -- did the metallic paper special. Their prints are pretty nice.

Heh, quiet, you. :P

Yeah, they did have a weird list of referrals (no DPS = ). Yeah, Ritz seems to be geared more toward the casual, clueless customer as far as printing. I have heard about WHCC though, didn't look into them much yet, though.

My ex roommate owns a frame shop and he just got these cool new frames in. He doesn't do mail order but if you're ever in Philly...
