Default Anyone following the Casey Anthony murder trial?

I'm ADDICTED to this trial! I work from home so I have the TV on in my office all day and I've been hooked on this trial since day one. My stepmom is also addicted to it so we call each other every night and rehash the days events of the trial.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is closing arguments.... and then the jury will begin deliberations. Friday the defense presented their rebuttal to the defense and their rebuttal was OUTSTANDING!

I think Casey is GUILTY beyond any doubt! I have two theories of what happened:

1. She premeditated the murder of her daughter and carried it out and was planning on killing her parents next and then maybe claim they kidnapped her daughter and ran off never to be heard from again. She would likely get their house and some insurance money and would be free to party her life away. She got caught before she could finish the job.

or

2. She didn't like hearing her parents complain about her partying so she used chloroform to sedate her daughter and left her in the car when she went bar hopping. One time it went bad and her daughter died..... and so she tossed her out like trash.

I don't for a second believe Caylee drowned. In the panic over a drowning you call 911 and try to revive the victim. There's no way that baby drown in the family pool.

Casey is GUILTY and I hope they sentence her to death!

Sadly my wife is kind of following it, and it dominates the cable news, so I'm aware of it...

...personally, I have no idea whether she did it or not, but the prosecution has done such a terrible job (the defense seems even more inept if you ask me), that I can't see a conviction here.

I mean, they have no cause of death, and nothing but a flurry of circumstantial, two-degrees-removed evidence, all clouded by lies and conflicting stories from everyone involved. How a jury can decide beyond reasonable doubt that she did it, is a stretch.

The whole thing is a circus..

The prosecution has done a fabulous job with what they have. Yesterday in their rebuttal they PROVED that Cindy Anthony lied on the stand. They also proved that someone SPECIFICALLY searched on chloroform and neck breaking and it could not have been Cindy.... she was PROVEN to be at work when those searches were done. IMO this was the nail in Casey's coffin.

Jose Baez (lead defense) has botched this case from the beginning and was already sanctioned by the judge during the trial. As I understand it the judge will consider Contempt of Court charges and other sanctions against him when the trial concludes. Unfortunately this will give Casey and easy appeal for inadequate counsel.

I think the slam dunk on this is the fact that the child wasn't reported missing for 31 days and was found dumped like trash. There is NOTHING, NOTHING that explains or justifies this. She's guilty and I don't think there's a chance in hell of acquittal.

From what I've heard, even if the jury doesn't convict of 1st degree but they find her guilty of 2nd degree or manslaughter that "aggravated child neglect resulting in the death of a child" bumps it back to 1st degree.

Casey Anthony is a stone cold evil bitch and the world will be better off without her in it. Stick the needle in and be done with that trash!

Haven't been watching the trial but agree with the above wholeheartedly.

Hell, I get what you're saying, and I'm not shy about the death penalty, but what it comes down to is reasonable doubt...

as a jury member, without an obvious, clear cut cause of death and ability to prove that Casey Anthony did it, I don't see how I could pull the trigger, so to speak...

it's all too convoluted and messed up. I believe you're right though, even if she is convicted, there's going to be an appeal, and it probably will go again.

Without doubt she will appeal. Thank goodness Appeals don't require a jury because there's no chance of finding an 'untainted' jury here in the US after the media circus around this case.

she is guilty. if she didn't do it she would have called 911 the day she went missing. there is no excuse not to. GUILTY! didn't even need a long trial to figure that one out...

EXACTLY! There is no getting around it. If the jury acquits (which I just don't see happening) it will set a VERY BAD precedent. If you don't want your kid just kill them, dump them and never report it. Don't worry... when they find the bones you can just lie all you want to the police and claim anything you want at your trial, not prove any of it and your lawyer will cite the Casey Anthony case.

The only justice for Caylee is a CONVICTION of Murder in the 1st!

I didn't start watching the trial until last Thursday.

I set my DVR to record both channels that are covering the trial so I can watch them when I have time. I was up until 6:30AM this morning watching Fridays testimony.

In a situation like this where a child is involved................I know it will be best if I keep my opinions off a public message board.

I'm a strong believer in the death penalty, but think they use a WAY TOO humane way of carrying it out.

Couldn't agree more. Child rapists, murderers and the likes need to die a slow and painful death. Very slow, and very painful.
