Default Free Software -- legal of course! what do you take me for? ;)

Hello good DPSers! I thought it would be fun to share our favorite freeware and open source software.

Some of mine...

Photography Related
Hugin (awesome pano stitcher, inkista turned me onto this one I think)
Inkscape (I have this because it can do vectors)
Paint.NET (to be honest, this is really not as good as Inkscape IMO, I rarely use it)
FastStone (photo viewer, resizer, etc. this is my main photo organizer)
Blender (3D art and animation, waaaaay over my head, I WILL master it some day! lol)
Color Cop (color picker)

Non-Photography Related
CCleaner
Open Office (free Microsoft Office-like thingy)
µTorrent

And I'm on the lookout for a free media player that can sync to an iPod. Thinking about Songbird, MediaMonkey or Floola...
Okay, truth be told, I'm totally a freeware junkie, and I jump at the chance to download just about anything.

So, what free software do you use?

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

Eclipse. It's a Java open-source modular extensible IDE. It is damn well turning into my duct tape of coding. I use it for everything from LAMP webcoding (with version control!, love git for this) to documentation and scripting.

XAMPP. Just 'cause there's a portable version you can run off a thumb drive.

I also like Mathmap, but to use Mathmap you need the Gimp. I use Parallels on my MacBook to run the Gimp in a Ubuntu Studio virtual machine.

And as an OSX geek, for anti-virus, I really really am learning to love ClamXav. It's based on the open-source (cross-platform) ClamAV, which is the tool Apple packages up in OSX Server for virus detection of email.

And, because it's cross-platform, for those files you'd prefer to keep under lock'n'key: TrueCrypt.

Wow, my memory is not usually this bad. And I even replied to that thread!

Well, one more thread can't hurt!

My Stepson loves drawing in the PC (He got a tablet for his birthday) And we found Pencil as a really fun little program that allows him to make electronic flick books.. What a great introduction into computer animation.

If you need to waste time instead of being productive, the Angry Birds Chrome app rocks.

I've heard good things about DoubleTwist, but I don't have an iPod, so I can't speak to personal experience.

All of this open source, free software is killing the professional software industry.

The same way that home taping killed music in the 80's.

OMG, 'The Man' lied to us!
