Default My first lens upgrade!!

I bought my d5000 with kit lenses in November. I wanted something faster and with a shallower depth of field. I also didn't want to break the bank especially since photography is just a hobby. So I went with the nikkor 50mm 1.8G. Most of the people on this site use this lens, or the 1.4, and have seemed to like the results. It's not the greatest lens, but I am excited about it!!

Nothing wrong with your choice of lens. It's a good first prime lens. How you have Fu. Using it. Obligatory to post the results on this site.

Actually, most people use the 35/1.8G, 50/1.8D or the 50/1.4G, so we'll be eager to hear from you about your impressions of the lens. The 50/1.8G is brand-spankin' new and just came out so nobody really has much experience with it.

I hadn't realized that it was brand new. That makes me even more excited.
