Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I cannot believe how common this seems to be. As of today (Sat morning) I am finally feeling a lot better. The first 48 hours I just wanted someone to shoot me and put me out of my misery.

Haha, John! I babied him and waited on him hand and foot - served him his meals in bed, catered to his every need. He healed up fine, was able to go off back to work and do stuff he wanted, but still wanted to be spoiled, so would be a big baby around me. I had to turn the Nurse Ratchet thing on for my own sanity.

As for giving birth, no, I haven't had triplets, but I've had two kids and both times were natural childbirth. And I got right up out of bed both times and was able to care for my newborns. Went home from the hospital the next day, resumed cooking and cleaning and waiting on my husband while taking care of the babies - no meals served in bed for me! Haha!

It's all good. Kirb knows I sympathize with him. He's a good guy and I wish him well.

I've had 2 hernias in my life, the second I believe was because they didn't repair the first one correctly. I haven't had an umbilical hernia, but the normal ones I had were quite painful until I had them repaired.

When I had the second repaired, I asked the surgeon if he could do the Big Snip on me, and he replied that if I was having arthroscopic surgery, he could get away with it. But, being that it was a Catholic hospital, and that my hernia was only on one side, they would question why he was going in on both sides.

Thanks again everyone, I finally think I will live. Not sure how any goes through major cutting - although maybe a big cut through the muscle wall doesn't hurt any more than a small one -- don't have any desire to find out first hand.

This all started about two months ago when I had this pain on my right side that sort of moved around. After it coming and going for a month I decided one morning to just go to the ER. Figured if I went to my doctor he would poke me a bunch and then say he could not determine what it was and that I should go for tests. SO we got to the ER and the first thing after the dreaded open back gown was an IV and they stole a bunch of blood. Then the first doctor came and poked around a bunch and could not find anything but said do you know you have a small umbilical hernia. I said yes, I have know I have had it for about five years(might have been there much longer) and my doc said if it doesn't bother you that you could probably just leave it alone.

Then the next doc came and took his index finger and poked it in my naval till I thought it would come out my back. Then it did start hurting there. He suggested a CAT Scan. So a bunch of hours later after drinking all the barium crap it was off to the Scan. They came back and said they found nothing to suggest any pain - BUT the scan showed a question mystery spot on the right kidney. They suggested I have another scan in two to three months to make sure it did not change.

A week later when the pain did not go away I went to the surgeon for a consult, he said I could fix it or wait - no rush and that it might be the source of the pain. A week later go a colonoscopy just to be sure no issues there - all was well.

Went to see my doctor about the scan and he said it would be crazy to wait that long that I should get another right away. Told him I was not crazy about all the radiation and he agreed. I suggested an MRI, while he said that would be much better actually, that most insurance would not pay for it - fortunately mine did not care. So off for the MRI. The MRI could not find the mystery thing the CAT Scan found, but found an even smaller mystery thing somewhere else in the Kidney. Doc said its not cancer, but not sure what it is - too small to tell. Said at this point probably nothing, but suggested another MRI in four months.

At this point I sad, lets just fix this darn umbilical thing and hope the pain goes away. Too early to tell, but that is my saga.

PS - while this may sound trial to some, the sight of a doctor scares me. Until a month ago I had never had an IV, now I have had four. MY BP always goes up in the doctors office. Just before the surgery it went to 167 over 110! Just before going home it was back to a normal 122 over 71.
