Angry Writing your name on Photo's

Hi all, so I have a facebook photography page
Nadine Ruiz Inc. | Facebook

and my mom is insisting that I "tag" <-- my term
all my photo's
with "Nadine Ruiz Photography" So no one can steal my pictures
It's just SOOOO time consuming and she wants it right across the picture and I feel it just RUINS it!
I'd rather not show my work than have my name in big letters all over it.

Can someone help me figure out an alternative?
Or is this really the best thing to do?
I've been on MULTIPLE photography blogs, websites etcc they all have either NO NAME or the name in a small place where it doesn't take away from the photograph.

Please help me out, it really is getting out of hand

watermarking your images won't prevent theft, but it will deter most especially if it across the center as this makes it more difficult to remove.. you could create the watermark in photoshop, or create an action to add them to the pictures, will would be much quicker..be a good child and listen to your Mom!

It's called a watermark, and I wouldn't use colors like that, if I were you. It looks tacky. Either white, black, or somewhere in between (ie gray). And if you do watermark, do it for the publicity, not the security. I can remove most watermarks in Photoshop if I REALLY WANT to....as for the size....well look around, see what others are doing.

For Facebook, I kind of tend to side with your mom. I am running in to issues lately with portraits i took of people are getting downloaded from FB, and their friends are "editing" them in Picnik by adding godawful fonts and hideous warming filters. So, I am kind of in the same situation. The crap edits I have seen still have my watermark on them, so it looks like my work. The worst offender is my step daughter. I have talked to her about this more than once.
I think I am going to start slapping a watermark right in the center from now on. I am still on the fence about what to do myself.

Default signature

You have photoshop so create an action that you can use repeatedly, however I found and easier way..........create the text you want to use in black and then use magic wand to select the text and click on "create brush". This gives you a signature /logo with one click. To resize put on its own layer then use transorm to quickly adjust size. Color can also quickly be changed. I often grab a color from within the photo so the logo kind of matches the picture. Hope this helps

Lightroom has a nice watermark feature too. Set it up once, and it automatically adds it to any photo you export.

I have this pink thingamabob that's freakin' awesome and everyone definitely wants to steal it (why wouldn't they, it's freakin' awesome) so I decided to put some text right across the center!!!!

iblink

Lol. Joking aside, you can create a very nice watermark and have it as an overlay so it fades into the photo. A classy watermark can actually improve a photo sometimes.
