My son lives about an hour north in Newburg. He has been told that driving down there to lollygag will result in being detained. So he won't be going unless they put out a call for sandbagging duty.

I've known a few USAF PJ's who were stationed at Why Not Minot. Hell, while producing images on a cross country venture for AMTRAK, we stopped there to take on passengers. What a frozen hell that place is.

My youngest son was stationed there for four years. That is how the oldest landed up there and now he loves it and probably won't move back to Florida. The youngest said that living on base was a major pita as if you got a ground floor apt you had to turn the heat up to roast just to stay warm and if you had the misfortune to get a third floor apt you had to run the A/C during the winter just to stay cool. He also told me that during the winter (50 weeks out of the year) you would go everywhere underground just to stay out of the wind.
