Default Walmart - Dat dar cameria takes dem dang good pictures

*swats fly away*

Just got back from Walmart (I HATE that store). I was printing one for my paged folio. The photo department attracts some of the lowest characters (myself included ). I was waiting for my print to come off the large format printer. This guy was there blathering about he was going to do it "old school". He stood there with film in his hand and went on and on. With all the questions he had for the photo counter person the old camera he has was still a magic box.

My attention was then diverted to a couple who I felt exemplified rural Wisconsin. You know dressed poorly all sweaty and he looked like Joe Dirt with a baseball hat. She was as big around as he was tall. I kid not he let out with "Dat dar cameria takes dem dang good pictures". They were looking at cameras that were smaller than an Iphone. Which I found interesting as she had no fingers. She had 10 thumbs. Ok maybe they were the sausages that escaped this mornings gorging .

I look over to see if my print was done and blabber mouth was still going on and on. I look over the counter and there my print laid face down in the dirt. Noticing I was still standing there waiting she turn her attention to me to ask if I wanted something. I said "I wanted that print that is on the floor, but we can start all over now.". She then tried to get me to take the print on face value even though it was laying in the dirt. All while she was rubbing her sweaty fingers on the print trying to brush off dirt. I informed her I was not going to purchase a print that was on the floor at any price.

Anyway I got my new print and away I went.

Ok rant over

Some damn people

This might not seem like much of a step up to some,..but I ordered 5 5x7 test prints from RitzPix and it only cost me $7 and some change. Shipping included.

Oh I order from a real local lab just over the river. Usually I have her do a bunch of stuff for me. This time I only needed one print and it is not for sale so I figured whats teh harm. Plus when I use them for folios I am saving about $1.50 each time and this does add up. I am poor

Should have taken some of "dem der good pitchers" and posted them on Funny Pictures at WalMart

I suppose what the store is like can vary depending on the neighborhood. There's one close to me that isn't really bad. It's well lit and the customers seem to be a better class of Walmart shopper. But, drive a few miles away and there's a store that I wouldn't go into to buy oil for my car if the dashboard light came on. I'd rather blow up the engine and meet a tow-truck driver on an unlit back road than deal with those customers. I swear, I wouldn't be surprised if "Dueling Banjos" played when the doors opened.

Izzy, do you have a Cosco nearby? If so, take them there to get printed and you won't have to look at those type of Walmart customers. I only go to Walmart to purchase my dog food as you can't beat the prices there. And......as for your description.....I think there's customers like that in every story.

I refuse to go to Walmart - because of the company, not because of the customers.

There's something incredibly judgemental about this thread...
It's one thing to slam it as a corporation (which I agree with), but this talk of "slumming" it.. really, are these blanket statements necessary? Do these (likely) less fortunate folk really need your judgements for not having better options?

You know what they say about glass houses and stones right?

I was about to say the same thing.
Really pisses my off when people bash others. Especially based on looks.

I'd be mad that my print was put in dirt too. But if they replaced it, so what?
And it's one thing to get ticked off when people give all the credit to your camera, but to bring their appearance and (lack of) education into it is wrong in my opinion.

Just saying...
