Default How do thread that are 2 yrs old get new replies?

Is this the new people just searching the forum and coming up with things that have been relinquished to the depths of DPS of yester years? Or is it the mods, trying to interject topics to be revisited?

Like these two, recently seen in the GCC section.

You have a great camera...

If I could tell new photographers one thing...

Notice they were both started in 2009! Where in the bloody hell did they come from?

Well, someone could have used the search function or found it via google, or it could've been bumped by spam that got deleted and restarted the thread. Nothing wrong with it if it fits what someone is looking for. Better to bump an old relevant thread than ask the same question 1000 times

Sometimes I use the search, find an interesting topic, respond to it, and then realise that it's an old thread.. At least some of us use search!

I'm guilty of reviving old threads after finding them via Google :P

Some communities will punch you in the face for necro-posting. Combine that with face punches for not using search and new users are often turned off from a community before they can even get a foothold.

I'm going to put in my calendar two years from now a reminder to dig up this thread...
