Default is anyone using Bluehost to host the website?

I know it's a bit off topic but it's general chit chat so...
I'm looking into building a new site and hosting it with Bluehost.. any thoughts from someone who actually worked with them?

mine is hosted on bluehost, it's in my sig if you want to check it out. NOT finished yet, i'm working with a pre-made, but highly customizable Wordpress theme, which i have not finished yet.

so far, Bluehost has been pretty good! no complaints here. i know a friend that has a couple sites on Bluehost as well, so it seems to be a pretty good choice. if i remember correctly i got the hosting on a really good deal, too.

haven't worked with them/for them, but you'll be on a shared servers with possibly 1000's of other domains, could casue issues with emails if one of those accounts are spammers and the ip gets blocked, yours will also..they may offer your own IP for a bit more..also be sure to confirm that support is available 24/7 and that it is not outsourced to a call center, lest you'll be jumping thru hoops..

thank you both.
never thought about the spam issue but I think hosting on a private server will be much much more expensive and I can't afford it right now.
Katia, your site is running a bit slow.. do you know if that's an issue of the construction you're doing on it or is it a thing with their servers?

hmmm really? i haven't done anything to it in awhile, been working on my Snake website for the last couple weeks.

i just went on and it seems to be running fine for me. the slideshow on the front is a bit slow to load at first, but i'm not leaving that up forever, it was moreso just a tester.

are any other sites running slow for you?

yes a dedicated server will be much more expensive and way more than you need, whoever paying a few extra bucks for a dedicated ip is a good option, your site woiuld still be on a shared server, but with it's own IP address. I run shared servers and keep them to a limit of no more than 100 domains on each and also offer dedicated IP's for those that want/need them. From an admin end this makes my life much easier and my clients happier.

they charge an extra 30$ / yr for a dedicated IP.
I might look into it.

Katia, I was talking about that flash slideshow that's loading slow. I guess it's has something to do with the slideshow and not the hosting.

I had bluehost for several years. Support was always fast to answer my question and resolve issues, never had any significant downtime.

No complaints here.

I know some people who use them, but I'm with Media Temple. They're more expensive, but they have really really good support. I'm on their grid server, but they have lots of options.
