Ooo.. oooh, I get to go first!

My background is military. When it boils down to it, my job was to kill and blow shit up (I was a Ranger).

Now, I work in the field of prosecuting war crimes. Which, while better, is still doing some dirty work.

Half way through the Milosevic case I decided I needed an outlet that was constructive and creative as opposed to focused on destruction (by others) and negativity in general.

That was just around the time the Canon 300d came out. I'd always been interested in photography, so I gave it a go.

And boy am I happy I did.

Oh, and hot chicks.

The main reason I started was because it was very relaxing. Almost like a walking meditation. Now I find myself in a huge learning curve, especially in interacting with people, since I want to get more in to portraiture, which is a good thing. It's forcing me to think outside the box. So I guess that's my main reason for doing it now.

I'm so compulsive / obsessive it's not even funny.. I go thru hobby cycles. I took up bowling at one point managed to get my PBA card, then quit as I had it mastered, then onto Bass fishing, bought me a fancy bass boat and had to have about 20 rods and reels and all of the other gear, got some great giant florida bass to hang on my walls, then quit..so here I am with now with my new d7000 ( among a lew of other cameras and gear piling up...can only imaging what will be next...a metal detector has been floating around in my brain as of late..but i hope to stick with photography for a few more years.

Because its a passion, wait its an obsession, no its a passion, no, its obsession.
Seriously, it's both.
I love to hike and ride my Harley all over the country. With photography, I get paid to do both. I get paid to do what I love, isnt that just the greatest!

When I realised I could take more than just snapshots with a decent camera. I enjoy the challenge of continually trying to improve my shots, the technical aspects of getting the shot I want and I enjoy the fact that photography has me looking at the world in a different way - I appreciate the beauty in the landscape, or the details in a flower more now than I did pre-photography.
