Default A fun self-reward

A couple of years ago, I found a $100 bill on the street in the winter. If I had known the owner, I would have given it back. But since it was NYC, I knew no one would honestly say it was their's, so I kept it.

I put it in a zippered pocket and totally forgot about it. A year later during the next winter, I found it in my jacket. I felt like I won the lottery; not from the amount, but rather the fun factor of finding it in a place I normally wouldn't check.

Ever since then, I have always hidden fun things in my winter jackets and swim shorts and I usually forget about them until I find them next season.

I don't know, I thought it is really fun and cool idea.

I get a reward in the laundry once in a while. my whole family knows that if money makes it to the laundry room, it becomes property of MOM!

I tell my husband the same thing. Except, usually all I get is a pocket full of cigarette butts.

Ive done the same thing by accident. Be careful with spring cleaning though. I know a woman who goes shopping in the thrift shops for that reason. If she finds a $100 bill in a $10 jacket.... she comes out of the store $90 ahead.

I try to do something similar out of being forgetful and often leaving a wallet in my other coat and finding myself out and about sans wallet. So, when I wind up with a bit of cash I'll try to put $5-10 in my various bags and coats for "just in case".

But it's great finding money you forgot was there!

I'm really forgetful about notes.. I'll often leave them in my pockets and find them once I've forgotten.. Often after they've been washed and ironed too.. Surprising how resiliant to laundry money is..

My wife is really careful with money and never manages to forget about it.. Every now and again when she's looking down in the dumps I'll hide a bank note in a place she'll find it.. It's a really good way of cheering her up.. I think she's sussed that I do this, but I never hear any complaints, so I guess she's just happy that her hubby has noticed she's grumpy and has done something nice for her.. Better than flowers. (Well, different anyhoo, she gets the occasional surprise bunch of them too.)
