Well, that's Windows for you.
On the plus side, IE9 is Microsoft's first fully standards complaint browser. That's a good thing. Take a deep breath, start the upgrade process, and enjoy the interwebz in all its modern, full featured glory. |

Unless you go to sites that use Active X controls, I would just use Google Chrome (it's what I'm on right now, and I use it 95% of the time). When I need active-x stuff, I use IE9 (which is actually a pretty nice browser, actually). IE9 is by far the best browser to come from Microsoft ever.

I primarily use Firefox, but I do use IE for my 2nd Facebook account, so i can be logged into both simultaneously. One is a personal account, and the other is for my "Reptile Friends" haha.
but I find the newer IE to be a lot better than the older versions. i kind of doubt it was the IE upgrade that screwed up your entire computer, that was likely just a coincidence. i believe the upgrade to IE9 is quite fast and easy. |

Not to worry I'm sure the next version will be garbage again

the one thing i SUPER hate about the new IE is that the refresh button is TINY and sandwiched between 2 other buttons. same thing with Firefox and the Home/Refresh/Stop button. however i customized mine of FF, not sure if you can do that with IE9 or not, but i really should look into it, because it drives me nuts!

I use IE 9 and love it. Best browser they ever made.
