Hello & battery type

Hi All
My name is Gail Williams, I am based in The West Midlands UK. I am a novice, but hoping to learn more from hear and from a camera club near to where I live.

I recently had ALL my equipment stollen from our home, and I am now dealing with Insurance and the re-newal of my camera gear.
I have chosen the Canon EOS 550d. I don't actually have the camera yet, as most of the things stollen are being replaced by various companies...

My Question is..........
I know the camera takes the Canon LP-E8, but the company involved in this part of the items has sent LP-E5.......... Is this the correct battery or will I have to send it back for the LP-E8 ( I only have 14 days to get them (2) back to the supplier by post)

It's supposed to come with an LP-E8. That's what's in the box.

What company are you dealing with for this item? is it a reputable one? Have you run it through ResellerRatings.com?

I now have my new camera (Canon EOS 550d) and most of my equipment has been replaced. I had to send the batteries back for the LP-E8....

In my experience with battery numbers, you'll probably find that the battery they sent will work but won't hold as much of a charge - the milliamps for example will probably be lower.

Can I ask where in the West Midlands you're from and where it all was stolen from?
