Default What do you look for in a car shoot location?

I'm going to do some experimenting.

I've got a shoot set up with a hot, tattooed girl and her dogs. She also happens to have tricked out car so I want to experiment with that.

Think edgy, but safe for work.

Location scouting is what I see as my biggest challenge.

My mind immediately goes to something industrial and a little run down.

I would suppose Max is the resident expert on this sort of thing though...

Yeah, mine too, but where . . . Maybe I'll start with some exploration of the URBEX sites for the area.

Look for paint and body shops that cater to the custom car crowd. The car owner may even know of one or the one that did her car. The walls are usually sprayed with colors and make interesting backgrounds. And the other suggestion is nicely cut grass such as a golf course. Oh and if possible a section of mountain road with nice curves that is very lightly traveled.

From google-mapping I can see what appears to be a quarry not far up the road from you? If you can access that, it might make an interesting backdrop.

I've seen the "warning, blasting" signs, but never thought about it. Hmmmm . . . .

You know what place has the coolest parking lot down in your area? The Udvar Hazy Science Museum in Chantilly. They have that cool twisty sculpture and not alot of other buildings around for background distractions. Plus the museum building is very chromy and industrial looking. I don't know. Just a thought.

That could be neat. I could also see problems with security and getting permission.

That is a good point. What about the backside of Dulles somewhere? Maybe you could catch some weird moody light with a plane in the background taking off, run ways, etc.
I am trying to run the area through my mind. It is just so busy and full of stuff down there.

It's amazing how compartmentalized one's knowledge of an area can be. I'll have to get out and look around.
