EXIF says those were shot with a Nikon D3x. Suck it, Canon users. Just kidding, of course.

There are so many incredible photos of the shuttles, it's sad to see that era of space flight coming to an end. Then again, considering the shuttle program was sold as being quick (one flight per month, if memory serves), it's lasted pretty long considering how badly it missed the project goal.

Great shots. The Italian astronaut that took these, Paulo Nespoli, has a flickr photostream that I have been following for a while. He's uploaded some awesome photos during his mission on the ISS, including some shuttle shots and spacewalks. Check it out if you're interested:

Anyone have an idea as to why the person to person shots in ISS have such a crazy RGB color shift?

never mind - I see it was taken with a 3D camera.

It's sad to see it come to an end for the sheer awe that it inspires. ( The Shuttle Program) But what really was its purpose,..other than taking people to the ISS and back, and fixing satellites. I mean, it wasnt the Shuttle that put man on the Moon. So, all our tax dollars are going into a program that really, isnt doing much for us. NASA yes, The Shuttle Program, not so much.

The shuttle program gave us Hubble and that is nothing to scoff at

For the Nikon shooters

from the photostream

"This photo was taken on March 24, 2011 using a Nikon D2Xs. "

Revel in it but don't rub our faces in it.,
