Default Changed a light bulb today...

Now that might not sound like much to write home about but the bulb was almost 20 years old when it finally when on the blink. It was one of the first of the power saver bulbs that are so popular now, it was worth about five times was a fancy bulb costs nowadays but I'd say we got our money's worth out of it. My husbands work was giving them out, we've moved house a few times over the years and for some reason have always taken it with us. It was so slow to light up when you switched it on, it was in the hallway and I could flick the switch at one end and walk to the other end of the hall before the light actually came on! The new bulb has no personality whatsoever
They don't make 'em like they used to!

i kind of miss the bulbs that take ages to light up, you go into a dark room now and turn the light on and your blinded

i liked being gently eased into the brightness

im very sorry for you loss

The ones that we have in most of our lights do that. You turn them on, and their kinda dim at first, then as they heat up they get brighter. I havent had to change any bulbs since we moved in,..except for the ones in the chandelier, but those are different.

They actually make ones that fit the little chandelier bulbs now, I bought some for my daughter. They cost a fortune but last forever so it evens out. We are still using some of our original energy saver bulbs I bought 10 yrs ago when we owned our old house and they have moved with us 4 times.

They are great because when i get up and have to go pee in the middle of the night i don'g get blinded by 2000 watts worth of light all at once! haha...

Here lies the problem with being in Iraq... The bathroom is in a different building then where I sleep, I'm on night shift 7am-7pm and so when i gotta get wake up during the day and use the bathroom the sun is shining down at 1,000,000 watts and sunglasses don't really help!
