Default has anyone tried putting a campaign with Facebook ads?

Hi all,
I've been working on my Facebook page and Facebook keeps suggesting I put on an ad.
has anyone tried that? if so.. do people click those ads? is it worth the investment?
I realize we each work in different markets and segments but it's just a general wonder if it's worth the money or should I put in in google adwords.

I've never done it, and I've heard from those who have it's a huge waste of money.

I've done it. I would generally agree that it's ineffective.

It does generate page likes, but as leads I feel they're weak because you generally have no reason to follow up on them. It's a passive interest, not active like getting an email or a referral.

So as to whether it generates business, I'd say no.

Now factor in just how targeted you want your population to be, and how much you're willing to pay for it. Is it worth 50 cents to have some random click your ad, and maybe not even Like the page?

Over time, even throwing away pennies adds up.

I thought the assumption is that "likes" will translate into business over time, isn't it?
I think the main question is where will you catch more business for 100$ - google or Facebook?

You know what assuming does...

(makes Facebook richer).

I just don't find that it's a wise move to spend a limited marketing budget on this type of marketing.

"Likes" will translate into more exposure, as whenever you make a post your "likers" will see it, it could translate into business.. Google adwords will give you more bang for your buck, IF you take the time to learn it thoroughly..these days 100.00 will not go very far, I've seen clicks range from 2cents to over $25.00 depending on which keywords are bidded on and how saturated your market is.. Thus it is worthwhile to do lots of research before jumping right in with both feet...

One advantage FB has over google is the ability to target your ads by audience, male/female & age brackets, but you'll suffer with the click thru rates..
