Default Dust Spots? How to clean a 500D

Some quick advice please.

I have just noticed a couple of spots appearing on all my photos and assume they are dust on the sensor. I have tried using the inbuilt Automatic Sensor Cleaning to no avail.
I have eliminated the possibility of a dirty lenses as the spots appear in the same place with different lenses attached.
That said, is it advisable to clean the sensor myself? Is it easy to do? and if so, how?

Thanks in advance

I used the rocket blaster. Didn't fix it. Used lenspen and rocket blaster. Dust spots gone. I have your same setup. Worked like a charm. Got the cleaning kit with the rocket blaster and lens pen together from amazon.
