Default I'm so excited,...and I just can't hide it!!!

Ok,... again,.overlook my dorkiness.

So, ever since Scooter posted this thread. It's renewed my want for a dog. So I blame this on you, Scott,..lol

I looked the other day at the two shelters here in town. One was the city shelter, the other is a no kill shelter. I found a black lab/border collie mix named Tito at the no kill shelter, and as soon as I get my kitties up to date on shots, he is mine.

I've already been to PetSmart preparing for him. The kitties vet appt is a week from today. All I have to do is take them the paperwork from the vet showing that they're good, the email from my husband showing his consent, and the receipt of payment of the pet deposit and proof of consent from my landlord. They kinda make you jump thru hoops, but thats to ensure that you will give the animal the proper care, and that you wont be bringing it back because you didnt make sure it was ok with everyone before you got the animal.

I shall post photos of our new family member when I get a chance to get them.

I was hoping for a self-portrait with big Pointer Sisters hair, so I'm slightly disappointed. Still, congrats on getting a new family member. I'll be looking for you in the Animals SYS section.

Interesting that a shelter would allow you to suddenly catch the kitties up on shots and take that as proof of proper care when, unless I'm missing something, they fell behind on vaccinations to begin with.

No,...your assumption is correct. Thats completely our fault,...but I also figured that since our cats are strictly inside, that they wouldnt need rabies vaccinations. My cat is only about 2 years old, so she just needs her booster, cuz she had her rabies vacc for 2010. My husbands cat is about 4-5, and I think hes only been to the vet twice in his life. Once when he was neutered,...that is of course partly my husbands fault, but he's been here in Texas for a few years now, and had to leave the cat at home with his parents. They didnt exactly take care of him the way he shouldve been. My cat hasnt been tested for feline leukemia, HIV, or heartworms because shes still young, although, they will be tested for all that come Wednesday. I really have been meaning to do all that, just havent yet.

LoL Scott,...Hubby knows, I had to get consent from him,...that and because of how much this entire thing is gonna cost us, I made SURE he was ok with it before I even asked the landlord.

He's chipped, trained, doesnt pull while on a leash, and good with kitties. We took him into the Cat Room, and he was more cautious and curious than anything. Both of our cats have claws, so he might get a swipe or two,..but for the most part the kitties are pretty ok with dogs. Deimos, my husbands cat, has been around two very rambunctious dogs. Marilyn, my lil baby, has been around dogs, but has to get used to that particular dog before shes comfortable.

I havent paid for him yet, and dont actually have him yet,...but they know hes the one I want, and that once I get my cats straight, then he should be as good as ours. They said that the foster families that hes been with had nothing but good things to say about him, and I've heard he's a sweetheart. I spent some time with him yesterday, walked him around the back part of the facility,...they have a huge area thats fenced in. I think he'll be a good doggie.
