For any of you out there that ride motorcycles: Do you use those magnetic tank bags to carry your camera?
My concern is that those magnets will have a negative impact on the memory cards and electrical inner workings of my camera. Right now I don't want to risk it, but I really would rather not go with the backpack route. And, no, my bike does not have saddle bags so that is not an option either.

I do.. The memory cards are guaranteed against magnetism. (And water proof) and I've left one stuck to my fridge door for a week using a strong magnet to test this, and it does seem to be ok..
I can't really see the camera being effected either, the contents of the camera is mainly plastic and silicon and glass, and on my tank bag, the magnets are pretty far from the bag.. I'd be more worried about the vibrations than anything else, but in a well padded bag, the camera should be fine. I spotted a bag in my local bike store that had padding inside it, or you can do like this: MotoJournalism: Packing camera gear on the motorcycle.

The problem with the ones with straps is that they do allow some movement and vibration that can damage the paint.
The issue with the magnetic tank bag is that when removed from the bike, the magnetic flaps fold against the bag, right where the camera is. And the concern is mostly regarding the LCD monitor. I've seen what a magnet can do to a television and I don't want that happening to my camera. And I've heard that magnets, especially very strong ones, are not good for microchips.
