Default Traveling

Hello,
Over the next few weeks I will be traveling to Paris, London and Edinburgh. Can anyone suggest some interesting places to shoot in those cities that aren't the typical ones?

Thanks
Matthew

Edinburgh sucks, take a trip to Stirling if you want to see an interesting castle and Glasgow if you'd like to see a real Scottish city!

Really depends on what you want to shoot - people, buildings or "other".

Paris - in and around Montmarte area both up on the hill and the small streets leading up there. Great views of Paris from the top and good for night shots of the Eiffel Tower.

London - Head for the canals. Head up to Camden market. Modern architecture then head to Canary Wharf (just try and avoid the overzealous security guards). Greenwich park, back streets around the City of London and East end. The markets at the weekends.

Edinburgh - the cobbled streets around the castle, head out to Queensferry for shots of the Forth bridges.

If you are really brave and have a minder or two with you then head out of the centre of the cities into the less salubrious areas. In London that is Hackney, Deptford, Lewisham or the like.

I suggest downloading and running google earth, looking at the area there and checking out other peoples photos of the area to get a good lay of the land.

Take a trip outside of the city.. Get on a train.. For London, head to the Suffolk coast, Aldeburgh. For Edinburgh, go to St Andrews. For Paris, go south to Tours and Angers on the Loire valley.

For the City, I second Camden Market, also Brick Lane, and maybe Canary Wharf. In Paris, go to La Defence for some incredible architecture lit up at night.

when in Edinburgh, you MUST have the Cullen Skink at FISHERS. (think they have 2 locations)
Easily the best bowl of soup I have had anywhere in the world!

Agree with Sterling, and do try the Haggis.

In Paris, Metro photos can be unique. Notre Dame is popular, but worth it. The bridges over the Seine at night are great subjects. Pere LaChaise is a very unique opportunity, as well as the other locations already mentioned.
