Default New York Institute of Photography

I am considering taking photography courses. I have looked online and I keep seeing the New York Institute of Photography. I have looked at their website and recieved the catalog. What I would really like is to hear from people who have taken the courses. I would really like to see a website of a professional photographer who completed the courses. If you have any first hand experience I would really like to hear from you.

I too have wondered what the program was like, thanks for asking.

I found someone the other day on this group that was getting ready to submit her first photo to them for critiquing. She said she would post later on in the course what she thought of it.

I haven't taken them yet, but from all my looking around, I mostly found good things said about it. The only really negative comments about it have come from people who haven't taken them and are speculating about correspondence courses in general.

I haven't looked into it but make for yourself a list of things that are important for you to get from a course an compare it with their offer.

My daughter just starting the professional digital course. her first packet is very well put together. i'm impressed, though there is a problem. she's not sharing!

so far, when she calls in she gets a person to answer her questions. she even asked a question about her D40 and got wonderful help.

the booklets are very easy to follow and i feel they make it a point not intimidate the people just starting out. keep in mind, they must go from the point-of-view that the student knows nothng about photography.

since i'm paying for the course, i can honestly say i believe i'm getting my money's worth.

one more thought, the majority of the learning responsibility always rests on the student. like all things in life, it's what you make of it.

Thanks Pasq... that is exactly the kind of thing that we want to hear! lol...
I have recently started watching the Photo Chick videos on youtube... she is somehow affiliated with the NYIP, as it is listed at the beginning of her videos.
I was considering starting to look at what they have to offer. Sounds like it can't hurt to take a good look!

I just got the whole course. I love it!! It had been great, it is organized nicely and it is easy to follow. It starts off at the very basics and gets more into it progressively. I just finished the first unit and am working on the pictures now.
