I especially appreciate your input. It says alot that you believe your investment will payoff for your daughter.

one more thought, the majority of the learning responsibility always rests on the student. like all things in life, it's what you make of it.
I cannot agree more. I have taken online courses in the past and completely agree that you can get a good education from a good program. I have seen many classmates in these courses fail miserably and blame the curriculum, even though they never put any effort into it.

I would still like to hear from those who have completed the course. Even better I would like to hear from someone who finished one course and decided to enroll in another with NYI.

Again Pasq. Thank you your input is invaluable to me.

Rick

yes. NYIP is a distance learning institute. and in the post where i did the link to the uni i start classes at in june is completely online. that one is very expensive. i think it's over $600 a credit hour for the undergrad progam.

both are fully accredited. but NYIP doesn't have a degree program.

The only really negative comments about it have come from people who haven't taken them and are speculating about correspondence courses in general.
Correspondence is definately not for everyone. I have had great success with correspondence courses and I often find I learn quite a bit. However, when I have also taken online courses which had no real valuable content. Many License renewal courses are notoriously useless. While I had to finish them to maintain my license. I never recall leaning anything that made me better at my profession. I hope this is not the case with NYI.

I am very happy to read your input. I wish you great success. Are you wanting to pursue a career in photography? How long do you anticipate it will take you to complete?

Pasq,

I would really appreciate that. I don't know anything about the Academy of Art University. I will definatly look into that option. I am hoping to change careers. I do not know if Photography will be what I finally settle on. I may also pursue flight instruction. The time factor will be very important in my decision.

Thank you so much for your kind offer

Rick

Rick, I'd be happy to! here's the link I posted earlier for the University. This link is for the BFA in Photography. Though I have no real education in photography, my current ungrad degree is in education, they still suggested I enroll in the MFA program.
