Default Lightroom 3 for $99 right now

Just a FYI

https://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/sto...m&store=OLS-US

I think I can pull the trigger for that but $300 was out of my range.

I'm not sure if you have to have Photoshop or PSE to get the deal on Lightroom but it's worth a try if you've been considering it.

thanks.. now you got me thinking
I own PS CS5 which is much more powerful but people tend to praise about lightroom as it is easier for simple fixes..

PS5 is great for getting the hard struff done.. Getting rid of people, power lines etc. In a photo.. It's hugely powerful, but most of us don't need that kind of power every day, Lightroom is incredibly good at organising photos, and I've absolutely TONS of those.. It's also pretty damn good at doing the kind of every day fixes we need regularly.. It's not as powerful as photoshop, but in some aspects, it's quicker..

I have Lightroom and PS on my work computer. I have lightroom on my home one.. I don't need anything more powerful than that because I keep my lightroom catalogues on an external hard disk. if I have a tricky photo, I just take the disk to work and fix it. If I had to choose one of them, I'd choose PS.. Thankfully I don't have to.

I got one of those emails recently and downloaded the trial late last week. It took all of about an hour for me to be hooked (versus working with the files in Photoshop Express). It's not so much that it's just "easier for simple fixes" as it is about managing workflow and working with batches of files in a really efficient interactive way.

Ok - that doesn't sound simple at all, does it? ;-)

The point where I decided to download the trial was when I came home one night with just over 200 images to cull through and process. I just knew I'd be at it forever if I picked each one up with PSE and processed it by hand, so I was looking for LR to make that process faster. PSE, of course, has a batch mode where you can so operations on a bunch of files at once, but since there's no way you can automate stuff like cropping, you can't get away from opening up each file to work with it, and this is where LR excels. I'm still working on figuring out how I want to manage my workflow, but I was able to sit down and work through a couple of decent-sized batches of photos this weekend in less time than I would have using PSE, so I'm pretty confident I'm going to be converting my trial license.

There's shed loads of plug-ins for Lightroom to make workflow management even easier.. Here for starters. But they don't work on pirated copies so all you software theives will have to do without :P

Order a copy, send it to my house, send me a round trip ticket to NZ and I'll hand deliver it.

Problem solved.
