Exclamation Great innovation for snappers

I'm a bit of a lurker here but when I came across this, I felt I had to share it with my favourite online photography resource. (I did a search first and came up with nothing so sorry if it's a repost)

The Capture Camera Clip System

Note; I solemnly swear that I have absolutely no affiliation with this dude whatsoever.

Sorry mate, but I think it is a recipe for disaster.

I was taught at an early age to wrap the strap around my wrist at least once. This device obviously doesn't allow you to do this.

I would not recommend it.

Cheers,

John W

Thanks for your optimistic response Woody. I never use a strap and I have the shakey hands of a drunken man (praise Allah for inventing IS) and the ability to fix it to something such as my motorbike or similar is just yet another classic pitfall. Cheers for the advice, it just might save me from yet another unrealised disaster.

(PS, you can still wrap and strap as many times as you like. I'm not convinced you've thought this through)

No you put your hand through the strap loop and then wrap it around your wrist once, twice as many as you feel comfortable with.

Cheers,

Looks very similar to the Spider Holster which I use and love with a twist similar to the CottonCarrier , which I own, but can't wear.

With the Spider Holster, I generally use an "R-Strap" as well, but don't keep it tight. I only do this because I got in the habit of pretty much just letting the camera go between shots, so it's safety net.

As for "recipe" for disaster, nope, not unless you're a careless dolt, but then even the wrist wrap (which has its own issues) won't help.

Can you please point out to me (Cos I must have missed it) the time-point in that vid where it says that "Unfortunately, using this system means you cannot affix any kind of strap (wrist or neck) to your camera."?

If I'm not mistaken, you're apparently making the claim that nothing other than a multi-wrapped neck or wrist strap can ever be eclipsed through developments in technology and engineering. And that's absolutely fine, there are lots of people in this world who struggle with electricity who would be loathed to recommend light bulbs. Other people with more progressive thought patterns may be able to identify certain advantages that sophisticated systems have to offer and I guess I was unwittingly directing this post at people who conclude that the earth is a globe.

Fortunately you don't have to buy it and no-one's making straps illegal so your photographic outlook remains completely neutral.

Are you ok Mate? Maybe you need a valium. Just remain calm.

Yeah it definitely has a lot of similarities. It's probably just a bit of an evolution of the same idea and more generic overall (i.e. All you need is a belt but you can fix it to other mountings as well.) The only problem I have with is that I have a deep seeded hatred for people who wear their mobile phones in a belt holster and this is disturbingly similar, as well as the fact that I can't help but think the dude in the vid struggles with his sexuality and almost certainly owns a number of Apple products.

Yeah you're right, phones, keys and ID badges. I can't cop them as well.

Cheers,

Fine thanks Woody. I note you've given up on supporting your position. Probably for the best. And yes, any politician that campaigns on a platform that bans lanyards and those spring loaded retracting belt clip thingies gets my vote. (I am also outraged that an image search for "Gareth Keenan phone holster" yields no appropriate results)
