Not to sound like a smart ass, but my advice would be to turn up your LCD brightness and then take some photos, check 'em out then check them on your monitor to see if what you see on lcd is same as what you see on monitor.
Or, it could be your monitor. How do the images look when printed? Also overexposed? |

I found that the LCD brightness indicator needs to be in the middle. that way it's in line with my LCD screen at full brightness.
but like BigFuzzy said.. you need to do those checks yourself to see what works best for you.
