Where in Thailand? Smile and be patient and the locals will treat you the same. Watch out for tuk tuk rides because they normally take twice if not three times as long to get to your destination. This is due to them trying to get you to visit other places that promise them gas credit if they bring customers there.

Eat some mangosteen if you can find some there. I'm not sure if they're still in season. It's some of the best fruit you'll ever taste. At least that's my personal opinion.

Bring some close toed shoes with you and some long pants. If you visit some places they don't allow sandals or shorts. The king's palace is like that if I remember correctly and some of the temples are like that.

Don't point the bottom of your feet or your feet at anyone and don't pat anyone on top the head. Both are very disrespectful.

If you go to Chiang Mai then visit the night market. Some great photo ops there. Also hit up Doi Suthep and walk up the long flight of stairs to get to the temple at the top of the mountain.

Bring something to backup your pictures to or just bring lots of memory cards.

Too much to tell you in this little box hehe. Let me know if you have specific questions though.

Take a Point and Shoot.

Wandering round the night markets with a DSLR is impractical. They won't mind you, but a P&S is easier to manage and you're much more likely to use it.

I know Thailand very well as my Dad lives there.. Where are you going?

Be wary that if you take your DLSR you might be moving in and out of Airconned locations (Hotel Rooms, Sky Train, Shopping Malls) into a very humid environment which will put condensation on your glass.

If you're doing two weeks then most likely a few days in BKK and maybe down to the islands ( Samui, Phenyang, Tao)

If you go to the full moon party in Phenyang don't take your camera out with you if you intend to get involved in the party, you might never see it again.

Sweet cheers!
I don't know where I'm going if I'm honest a bit of a take it as it comes. However, parties are on the cards, we fly to Bangkok, definatley going to Phuket and the full moon party and probably elsewhere.

Fortunately, my friends girlfriend is Thai - they went out last week and me and my other friends are off out there now too - one who's been there before.

I have my old DSLR with old / basic lenses to try and get some good shots. A good P&S and a Fuji underwater P&S, the latter of which I intend to take to the full moon party.

If you have an underwater camera, then definitely bounce up from the FM party on Phanyang to Koh Tao and get some diving in.

In Bangkok get up to the Chineese Quater and Sampeng Lane, for some good bustling street shots

I have a great photo my wife took of me at a ladyboy show in Koh Samui that encapsulates the pride I held for the shitface bucket I bought. I was nearly about to link it but I don't know what this forum's policy is with regard to showing tits when they're attached to a bloke. On other forums I frequent it's not been an overly difficult point to approach but this forum has more of a 'fambly' orientation.

So I guess this an invitation to educate me.

'tiK.
