I am just wondering if anyone has done any photography coursework online. What are the most reputable schools to online work through? I already have a BS degree, but I am not fond of the field and would like to attempt a degree in something that I love, such as photography. Does anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks! |

I wouldn't necessarily say that you need to take any online courses. Obviously, if you want to go for it! With the wealth of knowledge that is available on the internet with forums and tutorials, you could get the same information for a fraction of the cost. One of the best tutorial sites around is lynda.com. The photography section is Here. Not only do they have great tutorials on Photography, they have a wide variety of other media art topics as well. While I was in school getting my degree I used the site often.
Hope this helps! LifePics: Create Anything, Print Anywhere |

I'd say forget the online courses too. The trouble is, they send you a work book or assignment, you read it and send back some photos. There's no one to ask "oh wait, why's it doing that?", "the flash didn't go off, I dont know why?" so you have very limited feedback. On top of that, you don't get the little tips and tricks that you would if you went to an evening class or something, you learn whats in the book, if you get into a bad habit, you're stuck with it.
And of course there's the people you can network with. I'm going on a course soon that I did last year. It's very basic stuff, but I really enjoyed the field trips and the people.
