Default Portrait Shoot Advice

Hello!

I'm a bit of a shoot what's there type of guy. But this weekend I have a portrait shoot with a young lady and was wondering if anyone has any hard fast rules / pointers on getting good fashiony/modelly type shots that aren't layered in cheese. It's going to be bedroom type affair, throw down a few white sheets etc and maybe some topless - so definately want them to be non-cheese.

Cheers!

I have been thinking of delving in to some of this myself, so thanks for asking.
Hope to see some good responses from this thread.

no worries - there is a direct relationship between the beauty of the model and the minimum level of photographic excellence.

Humm,
avoid having her hips square with the camera
try and bend everything that can bend
short light unless there is a compelling reason to broad light

Not that I've done too much of this Jamie, but I think if you set the overall tone as being "romantic" it will be reflected in your work, and not come across as cheesy, or worse yet porn. I would think soft natural light, maybe some soft focus, and the right kind of clothing that would re-enforces the theme. I think you also have to consider the subject, and what look she's going for, and for whom she's doing the session. If she sees herself as hot and sexy, and that's the look she's going for, that too, will set the tone. You may want to visit www.photocamel.com and check out their forum titled "Glamour/Erotic" for some great ideas on this very subject. However, you may have to become a member of this forum to view things.
