I've been capturing images with some cyan-ish reflections.
It's kinda creeping me out. The reflections may have been caused by my removing of the rubber eyepiece when taking shots(I find it easy to take portraiture with the eyepiece out) but then again, I'm not a pro so I just wanted to know what you guys think and explain the whole thing and give some solutions. Here are some of those shots with the so-called reflections: |

A couple of questions:
*does it happen all the time? *do you have a UV or skylight filter on the lens? *does it do it on other lenses? It looks like flare. I've also heard of light leaking in through the viewfinder/eyepiece, but I'd guess from the looks of the pattern that's not the case

notice in all of them the shape of the blue is the same shape as the bright highlight in the background.. (but inverted)
..... you're shooting into the light.. I think you may have a cheap-o UV filter on there... i'd agree with Autofocus...looks like flare

Nope, definitely ghosts....
You should sell that camera for a huge profit! it's a crap filter IMO, it looks like you are shooting thru glass with a reflection on it. And you are. BTW, I don't use filters in general...particularly not UV's

Yeah, I am using cheap UV filter.
And I only got one lens which is the standard 18-55mm.But it doesn't happen all the time. I only got a few exposures with those things in it. Do you think I should get a circular polarizer and replace my cheap UV filter? |

Yeah,... I'd say ditch the cheap filter. I got a cheap UV filter too,..and it didnt do jack for my photos except make them ever so slightly soft. Not the desired effect. I recently got a CPL and LOVE the thing. It gives me the desired results that I thought the UV would.

I don't use a filter any more, except when the filter needs to be there to provide a particular effect. A CPL will work well outside, it's used for reducing reflections in the environment (Not the kind you're experiencing) and for bringing out blue skies and cloud details.
I know some people say to put the UV on the lens to protect the lens, but unless you happened to be in a situation where you're getting salt or sand sprayed onto your lens, or some other caustic thing that will damage the coatings, or you're a clumsy fool and throw your lenses round like they're worthless, the likelihood of you damaging your lens is minimal. So I'd say, forget the UV filter and take your photos with a naked lens, just be careful with it, as you should be anyway.
