camera and lens model info would help. And, are you looking to shoot action/motion shots, or no motion shots?

If a night game ISO 800-1000, shutter speed at least 500th or higher, f2.8.
Since the lighting will be even, put your camera on manual settings and change your shutter speed to get correct exposures. However at 250th you're gonna get motion blur. Actually the settings depends on what lens you are using. one of those kit zooms with f-stop's 4-5.6 will only give you a higher shutter speed during day games. Night games........you'll have to adjust your shutter speed for correct exposures and you might find yourself shooting below 125th or lower. Which, is not good, however you could capture some nice panning blur photos.

If you're going as a fan you likely won't be able to get anything worth sharing from the seats. Most sports venues that I've been to limit the type of gear that they'll let fans bring inside. So you'll likely be working with either a slow zoom or a fast wide lens. Neither of which make for anything close to what you'll see on the sports pages.
If you take your camera, plan on getting some shots to say you were there and the people you're with. Otherwise, just enjoy the game. I don't even bother taking anything other than my cell phone camera anymore, unless my seats are near the dugout and I can get some shots as the players walk back to it. |
