I dunno - I think you could run a college course on the inbreeding habits of the European Royals.

Funny thing is, the Government and media are pulling out all the stops to whip us into a frenzy and organize street parties and it seems that the greater population of the UK just can't be arsed.

Still, it'll doubtless give the upper class, hat wearing, Ascot brigade a warm fuzzy feeling as well as give the nations retirement and nursing home residents a break from Judge Judy and Jeremy Kyle.

I'll be off somewhere remote with my camera. Screw the feelgood factor generated by the wedding. Talk about rubbing our noses in it, all that extravegance whilst the rest of the population just got hit with mass unemployment, 20% VAT and £6 ($10) for 20 ciggies or the same again for a gallon (yes ONE gallon) of petrol.

Now the French, they knew how to treat Royalty.

See what you did Rachel? You set me off.

In the good old days organising street parties was a synch. You just got together with the neighbours and someone would bring pots of tea, someone else sandwiches, others would bring cakes - it was a real team effort. Nowadays there is too much red tape involved and rules for this and that that alot of organising just isn't worth the hassle.

Me - well l'll be watching it on telly and getting smashed! Hubby will be doing a barbeque.

You know how it is, the rich only look after themselves. Shame, damn waste of money in these hard times. "Off with their heads!"

I have no clue why anyone truly gives a crap about what the so-called 'royals' do.

What, if anything of any slight significant value do they add to anything?

Lame.

That said, I am not sure I would swap Wills and Kate for Charlie and Bree

Well, I'm no great fan of the Royals par se, but since you asked

The Monarchy Today > How the Monarchy works > Role of the Royal Family

Royal involvement with charities

To be fair, I don't think that anyone could deny that some of them do work very hard and do bring a lot of happiness to a lot of people via charity work in particular. I myself would have undoubtedly spent my teenage years in young offenders institutes had it not been for a charity formed by Prince Charles (The Prince's Trust). When I was in my late teens he was shooting Pheasants on a large farm estate that I was working on (I was bush beating, scaring the birds into the air) and I actually plucked up the courage to thank him and explain as much. He was a very personable, sincere and friendly chap indeed and showed great interest as well as a really dry sense of humour and to my surprise, chatted with me for twenty minutes or so until he was called into the 'big house' for lunch. He's not at all the fool that the media would portray him as. Best of all though, end of the day, he tipped each beater a tenner each, which doubled our pay .

So in honesty, it's not the immediate Royals I have a gripe with, just the unnecessary ones like that Ginger low life the dutchess of York and a few others that are either complete planks or abuse their overpriveliged status. (Very few Royals are actually paid by the state now since reforms awhile back). The Royal wedding though is just really badly timed IMO, I suspect the result of a completely out of touch and patronizing, smug government that thought it would be just the thing to cheer us up and detract us from all the bad stuff going on. Now there's a man I REALLY dislike, David Cameron.

In general, I'd say most Brits are pretty apathetic and uninterested in regard to the Royals. Foreigners seem fascinated by 'em though. I really don't get the appeal any more than I get the appeal of any 'celebrities'.

Dodge I know what you mean about the hangers on. What's Prince Ed don recently?? I do like Prince Philip though especially his foot in mouth gaffs they are just so funny. I also admire Price Harry. I bet he would be great fun to out on the town with. He seems down to earth and just an all round nice bloke and much more a "lad" than his older brother Wills.
