Hello,
I am an extreme newbie to this site, and I want to make sure I'm doing things correctly. I'm also kind of new at photography. I don't have a DSLR, I just got a Canon SX30 IS about 2 months ago, which is still a point-and-shoot camera but with a ton of capabilities, no lenses to change though. I want to learn to use it better and get confident with it, so I was hoping that I would be able to do the assignments and post my pictures...just not really sure what is meant by the "EXIF" file?? Is that just the info from the camera in the picture? Please let me know if this is the place for me. I just want to learn and maybe someday be able to graduate to a DSLR. ![]() Thanks for any help, Diana |

Hello Diana-
There is an FAQ about EXIF and it can be found here The link to the FAQ also has information regarding the assignments you are speaking of. Hope this helps solve your questions. Richie LifePics: Create Anything, Print Anywhere |

Hello Diana, welcome! Your sure to learn alot here.
As for EXIF data, it is things like the image dimensions, your shutter speed, aperature setting, ISO setting, did the flash fire, etc. For the weekly assignments, you need to post with your entry the Camera make, the lens used or distance--- for example 50mm--the ISO setting, shutter speed and aperature and the date you took the photo. You could also state if the flash fired and if you did any post editing, but I don't believe it is a requirement. When you upload pictures to your computer, if you right click on the image and scroll down to properties, click on it, and open the tab called details you will find all this info. Very simple I can also say that if you don't already, get a flickr account. It's free and very easy to post your pictures in the weekly assignment thread from there. |
