Default Antelope Canyon

Can't wait for our trip. Ten days in the desert, getting married on the reservation by the medicine man, and an all day photography tour of Antelope Canyon. While in the area, we also are going to the Grand Canyon, Arches, and Canyonlands National Parks. This should be great. Trip of a lifetime!
Heres the link to the tour website. They were featured just the other night on Peter Lik's show on the weather channel.

Hey guys,
Mocha, Kimmy really doesn't get into it like I do, but I got her a little Canon SD1000, P&S that she shoots with. After our last DPS Chicago area photowalk and using Jons G10, she really wants one of them. I'd get her one, but she knows that I'll have it all the time. LOL.

Hayward, thanks buddy. It should be a hell of a trip. Drive out, then Grand Canyon area for a couple days, then on to Antelope Canyon for the tour and the marrage ceremony, then on to Canyonlands, then Arches, then off to where ever the wind blows us on the way back to Missouri.

We had planned on getting married, also had planned on making this trip. At the last minute, decided to combine the two. It is primarily a photo trip. I've got 4 new 8 gig, 4 new 4gig and 4, 2gig CF cards, 4 new 4 gig SD cards for our two P&S's, and last but not least, I've got to go to the local camera shop to get about 10 rolls of ASA100, color print film for my Nikon and Canon 35mm cameras. Also for the trip, I got a new Carbon Fiber tripod, with extra arca QR plates for all the SLR's and a new Sigma 24-70mm, f2.8. Brother, I plan on taking some photos. I'll try uploading some along the trip.

Thanks,
Mark

P.S. By the way, Hayward, I've been in contact with Jon and the guys about this years photowalk. Still in the very early planning stages, but I really hope to see you there this year.

sounds like a great trip,, one suggestion though,, when in Antelope Canyon, wrap your camera with plastic,, there is sand drifting down from the top all the time, I used one of the veggie bags from the grocery store and taped it around the lens so just the front was sticking out,, no prob. but saw guys actually changing lens while in there,, bet they had fun later cleaning out the sand,

Thanks for the tips, Dave. I have seen that idea on another site, about the bag. As far as changing lenses, I don't plan on doing that. I have a Canon 50D and 350D, so I won't have to change. The problem is what lens on what camera. I figure fast and wide, so I plan on going with 10-20mm and 24-70mm. I may even put the 50mm f1.8 on my Canon A2 and ASA 200.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark- To help with lens selection: I was there in Oct. 09 and used a Canon 40D (1.6 crop) with the 24-70 2.8 lens. I had my 10-22 lens with me but decided againist changing lens because of the dust. The 24-70 lens worked well, although, there were a few shot I wished I had the wider lens on. The majority of the time I was in the 24-40mm range and my exposure times varied from 3 seconds to 20 seconds. The only thing I'll change for the next trip there is a full frame body!
Incidentally, I,also used Carol Bigthumb's company and have nothing but good things to about my whole experience.......Enjoy your trip!!
