Default Full featured Photoshop may be coming to iPad

Photoshop for iPad Live Demo

The video pretty clearly shows that there's enough power in an iPad 2 to make this a reality.

Wow.

Hmm, that would be awesome. But am I right in being skeptical that it would be able to handle a nice large .raw file with multiple layers?
Interesting, now I have to rethink my "don't need an iPad mindset". Oh wait, still don't need it, just want it more now!

Teeth are overrated.
That's why we've evolved so we can blend our McDonald's burgers!

IV drip, man. It's the best invention ever. I can have my caffeine hooked in one hand, McDonalds fish burgers in the other.

Ipad looks better glued in my mouth anyway than a stupid crown

I'm huge into mobile devices for photography [it's all I seem to talk about on nuwomb.com now], but I'm being hesitant on the photoshop app until I see and hear more. It seemed really early and kinda to be flashy at the conference.

I talked all about my wants for this in a post after the ipad was announced: iPad 2 for Photographers.

The thing is, now that it's been introduced I want more info and I'm left totally iffy. Will it allow the use of the same action files? I would assume so but we're not really told.

There are so many amazing things that will come with it though. I am planning a post on Photoshop for iPad 2 but I don't want to regurgitate the introduction press release and I don't want to be too cheery. I'm trying to think more long term and what it means for us photographers overall.

Good things are happening!

Wow.

Yeah but will you have to jailbreak the ipad to get the "free"'version?

In all seriousness it sounds like a good idea on the surface, but theres something about using photoshop at a full sized PC that i dont think i could get away from. Ive used a few other photo apps, but the idea of doing anything beyond basic cropping and color correction on an ipad (so i can email to family or post to facebook) seems like a lot of hassle on a tablet device.

This may be true for Photoshop, but I think Lightroom would be incredible on an iPad. It would have to sync up with the desktop version though. Filterstorm Pro and Photosmith (two apps that will be available in the app store within a couple weeks) provide a pretty decent idea of what Adobe could do with the iPad 2. FP pretty much is the tablet equivalent of Lightroom.

If Adobe could deliver 80-90% of the post-processing capabilities of Lightroom in an iPad app, you wouldn't be able to keep me off of it.

Precision: it lacks it.

The touch screen interface can never really be as accurate as a mouse or pen input.

It's precise enough for your average person. Most people on this forum don't have any type of pen input on their computers and probably the majority really only do the types of edits that can be done via sliders anyway.

The current generation iPad (and probably Android tablets once Honeycomb gets fully baked and people actually start making tablet optimized apps for it) is definitely capable of being the primary post-processing machine for most hobbyists and will be good enough to be a secondary editing machine for some pros. A lot of pros will be able to leave their laptops at home and have enough power on a tablet for basic editing.

Give it a few months for developers to take advantage of the iPad 2's power and you'll start to see some really powerful stuff.

But yes, I do agree that those who need precision will not be satisfied.
