Default wierd matrix like green code on my portrait

HI,
Just wondering if anyone could answer a couple of questions

Was taking some engagement portraits of a couple on the beach into the sun, with the flare coming through between the two, you know the look. have one pic example on my facebook page www.facebook.com.freshphotography
(I used a d90 with a 50mm 1.8 prime)

Just used auto focus but found it hard to get the lens to focus firstly and when i did the photos turned out with the usual lens flare but also with a green mark kind of resembling the matrix code (from the movie). Any ideas how this happened and can i stop it?

Also is it bad for my eyes/camera to be shooting into the sun like this?

Cheers
Blake

The marks in lens flares could be dust on the sensor, or some such media on the element, maybe striations from dried cleaning fluid etc, without seeing the image it's impossible to say.

As for focusing while taking this shot (I do it routinely) use the head of one of the subjects to block the light, lock your focus and shift slightly to get the sun back in the picture.

No, it won't harm your camera in the slightest, but you probably don't want to stare through the viewfinder too long, just the same as you wouldn't stare into the sun with your naked eye for more than a split second.

Wow... that's hot... lens flare reflecting something with a person in it?

Teacher / Spam hehe

Welcome, by the way!

Its definitely flare, the uneveness of it comes from the womens head blocking some light. I flipped it 180 degrees and lined it up so you can see how it was formed.
