Question tips for seeing your screens in sunlight

I have a terrible time actually seeing my meter information top of camera and my preview in daylight. There must be a simple solution. What do you do?

Add a shade like one of these: Protect

I'm sure there's probably DIY versions as well. Maybe search for "shade" on a site like DIY Photography to see if there's something you can fab up.

........put my hand over it and stick my eye right up against it so my face casts a shadow.

turning your back to the sun helps.
