Hey all,
I am currently working on my Nursing pre-requisites. I have a series of Biology classes that I am starting next week. It has been recommended that I get a camera that I can shoot pictures through the eyepiece of the microscope. Since I have started school, I have had no time for personal joys. So I have not shot much nor followed the Camera world. So I am feeling at a loss. So many options out there. So I figured I would come to the experts, so here I am. Thanks, Brad

Who recommended this to you? Ask them what they use.

A student that I saw in the open lab before the end of last term. My mind was a little too pre-occupied with finals to ask to many pertinent questions.

I have a canon a620 in my drawer.... I have used it to take a microscope eyepiece picture of marijuana. For this purpose, the smaller the lens opening the better, as the maximum size is limited by the eyepiece. A decent cell phone camera might work, those things are tiny.

Any cheap camera can be used to take pictures from a microscope.
My microscope has a 1.5 mp camera built in a it gives clear images up to the max magnification so the spec does not need to be very high. If you're using a P&S held against the eyepiece the trick is to ensure that the camera is held very steady using a mini tripod or something similar. Also, you could do worse than to get one of these or a custom adaptor for a Canon, but they are about $100. Hope this helps. |
