Thanks for that. I'm already a lil paranoid walking around downtown Austin for photos. Especially around 6th street, where this probably took place. Last time I was down there, I saw more than one street photographer on the sidewalk. And almost got into an accident with this dumb@ss who was backing up and not looking where he was going. Austin is a very artsy cultural town, which is one reason why I love it, so there are photographers EVERYWHERE. But..sometimes the people kinda scare me. I've walked by some, and get that feeling like your being watched and think " Yep, your the reason I carry my Gerber knife on me when I go on photo outings like this."

I love taking pixs of such “interesting” people. My method is to chat them up. I would have asked the mohawk dude how he keeps things spiked. Always works for me. Most of such folks are very friendly and love to talk about their schtick. I offer to send them a photo via email.

Not scary at all.

as a photographer that used to have a mohawk you do get people that want to get snaps of my hair

just ask the person 1st, how would you feel if someone came up to you are started taking pictures without your permision

most people will be quite flatered that you want them in your photo, just chat to them

reading that article the photographer was being a bit of a dick, he didn't have permision and when asked to delete it he refused, granted getting hit with a skateboard may have been a bit too far but still the snapper was in the wrong here

Yes, I mean the photographer wasn't in the wrong. The subject was in public and had no expectation of privacy.

but the subject was a person, its not like he was taking a picture of the guys car

after he had taken it the photographer could have done anything with that picture, i think the "punk" was perfectly within his right to ask him to delete the picture

you say there was no expectation of privacy but im sure there was probably no expectation of a camera invasion here

are you saying that just because someone is out in the public eye then everyone with a camera has the right to an image of them
