Default Photographing protests in London - Help?

I know you can get 'bust' cards with your rights printed on them but as I understand it in most cases this is really just for those wandering about taking photos every day. With the way protests in London have been going over the last few months I'm curious as to whether that changes anything?

My wife is heading down to the big TUC march and Rally next week and is wanting to take my dslr to record the event for the group she's going to be with. Can anyone offer any tips, hints or suggestions that might help her out on the day? If it helps any she's going to be one of the TUC stewards so will most likely have a hi-vis vest or such like IDing her as with the march organisers.

Thanks for any help

Nuh just go out and shoot for your life, if the police kick off, photograph them too - there's been some great people vs police photos out there. I'd love to get down there myself, but things are a bit manic with work at the moment.

I would say really keep your eyes peeled though. Some people will want to get on camera, trouble makers will avoid it and go for you. You need to be looking out constantly to avoid potential problems before they occur. Personally, I'd stay away from these idiots who protest in the name of peace but pull scarfs up over their faces. They don't deserve the exposure.

Its the Trades Union Congress. They represent the majority of the trade unions in the UK.

Im with Biomech: Just shoot. If somebody interferes, take their photo too. Bring one of the 'bust' cards anyways.

Unless the protest turns very violent, the police won't stop you.
