Default Do I need a minor model release...

I was invited by my cousins husband to take team and individual photos of his soccer team.

Do I need a minor model release? Or is that overkill for something such as this.
I have a release form but didn't want to seem ridiculous about it.

Are the team members minors? If so, then yeah, your original release should have been for minors.

Yea. They are all about 5-6.
Can I just print the release on the back of the order form or do I have to have the parent sign the release before I take the pictures. That sounds like a nightmare.

You should likely have had them sign at the time of shooting. You can always add it to the order form. Also mark that you need the release form signed even if they aren't ordering.

Ok haven't done the shoot yet so I'm good there. I'll just print it on the reverse of the order forrm tomorrow.

Did I mention I hate lawyers with all my heart?

Also, I meant to ask... Why?
If they don't order any then as far as I'm concerned the pictures never existed.

Maybe i'm missing something, but as long as you don't use them for advertisement on your website, why would you need a release? For selling them? I would definitely talk to a lawyer. As for photographing them, no release is needed, even if it is a minor (assuming it is a public place). Selling the photos is a commercial enterprise but, IMO (and I am not a lawyer), I would not think a release is needed solely for that.

I shoot weddings and, of course, there are always kids there. I don't think twice about photographing (and selling the subsequent photos) of them.

MOmilkman: I have the subjects of commercial work, in cases such as yours, sign a release. Just to be safe

Brian: To use the images for advertising use (in some cases) requires a release. I get one as a matter of insurance of sorts.
