No,... there is only the Earth cleansing itself. It's just going thru another of it's cycles.

Just terrible this. The enormity of the situation is starting to be realised. Entire towns have been washed away in minutes. Last edited by gturner; 03-14-2011 at 09:51 AM. |

A geologist friend once told me: "our continous extraction of oil will result in more frequent & more stronger earthquakes". "oil on the ground serves as some sort of lubrication on the earth's surface that allows natural movement". "when too much oil is extracted, water replaces it which is not enough buffer and lubricating effect underground that results in violent bumps & movements". the intensity of movements have cost unimaginable shakings or earthquakes." Whether this true or not is something i cannot confirm. But man's greed is causing all this disasters. Unfortunately it affects everyone.

This could only work if the oil was being extracted from fault lines, otherwise it doesn't make sense. There should be huge earthquakes in Saudi Arabia and in the gulf of Mexico and Texas, but you dont see them there.
And earthquakes and tsunamis are just natural events. You don't have to blame/appease your invisible sky man for them. They would happen either way. Preventing death and destruction from tsunamis is easy - don't build near the coast. Of course wherever you live is dangerous - tornados or wildfire or blizzards or mudslides, drout, floods, earthquakes or sandstorms. Just pick what you can live with... |

Consider that oil is made up of former organic matter and is located fairly shallow on a 10km thick crust, either your mate is not a geologist or he wasn't in class the day they discussed
Plate tectonics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I get so grumpy when I hear people talking about human causes for massive natural disasters. Imagine if there was air travel and 24hr news when Krakatoa went boom in 1883. |

Yes and there was also a full or new or something moon that was the closest to Japan for a long time. Given that the moon exerts tremendous force on the earth and its oceans, paehaps it was the moons fault. This will bring out all the lunatics.
Thank god I'm an Aetheist. Cheers, John W
