Question Why can't I see all the photo's people post???

I have had a bit of a sift through a lot of the old threads and cannot find the answer.

I can't see all the pictures! For example, in the weekly assignments thread, I can see most, but for some all I can see is the EXIF, and the note, but no image. Or I can see the 'attached thumbnails' box, but no thumbnails!

It can be very frustrating, (especially when people are commenting on a pic I can't see...) so can anyone tell me if this is a problem on my end?

Thanks heaps!

It's not you . There has been on ongoing glitch in the uploader lately. About 99% of the files I have seen that are uploaded directly to DPS, I can't even see a thumbnail, much less a full sized image.

they talked about getting rid of attachments...

i think they should have! it's irritating all the problems that goes on with it, and it's also irritating to have to click on a thumbnail to see an image.

You're just lazy. But, this is a problem with DPS. That's one of the reasons why I stopped adding attachments.

I'm lazy because I put the effort into creating a file hosting account, resizing my photos for everybody else's optimal viewing pleasure and to adhere to the forum rules. I also put in the effort to get the link of the specific photo I want to post. Yes, that is much lazier than attaching a thumbnail that rarely works anyways...

/sarcasm.

I noticed that some people in Flickr upload their photos in such a way that no one can view them. It's a bummer to click on a link & the photo is blocked.

Some people don't know any better.. I know I didn't when I first used this forum. The thing is, unlike Facebook and these other hosting companies, Flickr seem to give a damn about your right to privacy, so unless you set it up otherise, the default settings in Flickr share you photos only with your friends and family I believe. People don't realise that, and assume that just because they can see it on Flickr, and also they can see it on here (because they haven't logged out of Flickr) they assume everyone can.

What's really annoying is that I use Lightroom to publish to Flickr, and for some reason, if I modify the picture in Lightroom (often as a result of comments on here) the photo no longer appears in the thread, and I have to go back and edit the link for my previous post.

The privacy part is good in such a way one can store photos from trips or personal events then burn or sell to family if they choose.

Didn't realise this was still an issue - I don't have problems seeing attachments - anyone link me to one that doesn't work for them?

Here's one. I can see the thumbnails now, but they will not expand. I just get a black rectangle.
