Hello all
my name is Gemma and I have just started an introduction to photography unit at uni, as an elective. We have been tasked to find a photographer pic four pictures that typify his work - referring to these images discuss briefly what visual strategies unify the four images. Focusing on Visual strategies and aspects such as compositional elements (i.e. perspective, camera position), use of light and use of colour, themes of the work. And how does the photographer achieve this both technically and conceptually. Big question I know but I dont even know where to begin. the photographer I chose was Ted VanCleave I love his abstract shots and the colour he uses, but I need help with the correct language to use. Any tips or advice? thanks Gemma |

While we can't do your homework for you,....his use of color, the perspective on the converging lines, and the ability to take what could/would be an otherwise boring photo, and make it interesting. Camera wise,... its just by noticing the lines and the image they can produce, and capturing it without over or underexposing it. Creatively is the use of Photoshop to change the colors into something that we dont see everyday, and using them in a way that makes the photo more interesting.
At least, thats my take on it. Depends on exactly what your instructor is looking for. |
