Default Circular Polarizer

I bought a circular polarizer the other day, because it said it enhanced the colors and contrast between the clouds and blue skies.

I also got a UV filter. Not really sure why. It was just there, and it said 'buy me'.

Is there a good resource to read about using the circular polarizer... when/what situations might call for it.? (other than the aforementioned blue sky/clouds situation)

Thanks in advance.

Steve

The best use for CLP's is as anti-glare. Pop one on, point it at a car window in bright light and twist it, you'll see it go from bright light to being able to see in the car - same way my driving glasses work :P So it's great for things like that, glare from posters, glass, water etc. It essentially changes the polar angle of the light as it were.

There's a good example in here:

The UV/Skylight filter effects are pretty weak but they are awesome to use a protection for the lens. First thing I do when I get a new lens is bang a UV/Skylight filter on it. I'd rather smash that than the lens :P
